Where are they now????



Since Martin's yearlings have taken over my dog lot and my time for the next 5 months, many of the NSK dogs are temporarily running with other mushers. Those dogs who are still in their racing prime have gone to mushers who will race them this year and those who, for one reason or another, aren't raceable....well...they live in the NSK retirement community (aka, live down near the house and get to play).

Sandy, Oakley, Sydney, Europa and Bossy all live here as pets now with Gabby and Canon. They get to free run quite a bit of the day since they don't run off and they hike with us.

Yuban and Pascal are temporarily with musher Christine Roaloff who bought Koala Bear, Io. Costello and Maguru. She is an Anchorage dentist who has visions of Iditarod and is planning on some mid-distance races this year.

Red, Chippewa, and the rest of the "pups"...Logo, Java, Perl, Curtis, and Hammer are spending this year with Junior Iditarod musher, Meredith Mapes who now owns Pancake, Gopher and Bat Baby.

Sadly, Atlas is gone. We don't really know what happened to him. One day this summer Rich and I let all the dogs loose to go for a hike. As usual, Sydney and Atlas stayed behind. Neither one ever left the yard and would just wait for us to return. When we got home a couple hours later, Atlas was gone and we haven't seen him since.

Now that you're updated on the NSK dogs....our next post will begin to feature the young dogs of Happy Trails Kennels that will escort Sue to Nome in March.
