Start of food drop
Today Sue needed to run dogs so while she was off
doing that Kim, Erin and Matt meet me at 0830 and we all headed over to the
Busers to start working on food drop for the 2008 racing season. Martin meet us
at the conexs and showed us what he needed done. What was needed was to start
packing dry dog food (Eagle) from the 40 pound bags that the food is shipped in
into eight pound double baged plastic bags. We did the first 2000 pounds by just
after noon and it was time for lunch. Now I know your thinking I was doing this
to help out Sue, Martin and Rohn since this is food they will be using for
Iditarod and some of the other races; well you would be incorrect. The real
reason is that Sue told me that Kathy (Martin's wife) would be cooking lunch. I
DO NOT miss a meal that Kathy cooks and I am invited to share. After lunch we
got another 1000 pounds bagged up before the other guys needed to get home for
some other activities.
Sorry but no
pics, I forgot to take the camera.
We
were invited to Art and Bonnie Churchs for dinner, another opportunity that I do
NOT pass up. Bonnie is also an excellant
cook!
There is still more packing to
do; today was merely the start so I will be sure to take the camera next time so
you can see some of what goes on, it really is an interesting
experience.
